Welcome to #MAMBAMONDAY Mamba will be providing tips, articles, how to guides, and more! Today Mamba is providing information on how to identify what type of foundation you have.
Full Basement Foundation

A full basement foundation is the deepest foundation found in residential homes. The walls of the basement foundation are typically six feet high. Full basement foundations provide extra living space, which many homeowners tend to take advantage of. Older homes that have full basement foundations often have cinder block walls that can result in structural failures and a headache for homeowners. Newer basement foundations are built with poured concrete walls that can eliminate major foundation issues if built correctly.
Concrete Slab on Grade Foundation

A slab on grade foundation is a large concrete pad that rests on the ground level. This type of foundation is frequently used in areas that do not encounter ground freezing climates. Ground freezing climates can potentially cause foundation issues such as cracks and foundation shifting. Unlike full basement foundations, slab on grade foundations do not offer extra living space, and it is not easy to address plumbing issues, as the pipes are enclosed within the concrete.
Crawl Space Foundation

A crawl space foundation has short walls around the perimeter of the home that sit on footings. Typically crawl space foundations have about 2 feet clearance and a girder system. A girder system includes beams that run perpendicular to the floor joists and are supported by posts that are strapped to the beams and strapped to concrete pads that are embedded.
